anemia treatment 1

Anemia is a condition in which the body doesn’t have enough healthy red blood cells. It can cause fatigue, shortness of breath, and pale skin.

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system of medicine that has been around for over 5,000 years. It teaches us how to maintain good health and prevent disease by following certain principles and practices.

In Ayurveda, anemia is caused by an imbalance in the three doshas: Vata (air), Pitta (fire) and Kapha (water). The imbalance leads to a lack of red blood cells due to improper absorption of iron from food or other factors such as menstruation or childbirth.

Introduction: What is Anemia?

Anemia is a very common disorder that affects 2 billion people worldwide. It is defined as a reduction in the number of red blood cells (RBC) or hemoglobin in the blood. The main cause of anemia is iron deficiency and it can have many other underlying causes too. Ayurveda offers holistic treatment for anemia by strengthening the body’s immunity, improving digestion and absorption of nutrients, increasing iron levels in the body and regulating the menstruation cycle.

Anemia is a condition where the body is not producing enough red blood cells. This can happen when the body doesn’t get enough iron, or when it has too much iron.

Anemia happens due to two reasons:

Treatment for Anemic Conditions

Ayurvedic remedies are an ancient form of medicine that is practiced in India. It has been used for centuries to treat a range of illnesses and conditions.

Ayurveda is based on the belief that every individual has an individual constitution and therefore, different people will require different treatments. The treatment for anemia includes a number of natural remedies that are easy to access and have no side effects.

Anemia can be caused by many factors, including lack of iron in the body. In Ayurveda, this condition is called “pittaja” or “hot” type of anemia which can be treated with pitta balancing remedies such as ginger, turmeric, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black pepper etc.

There are many natural remedies for anemia. Some of the main ones are listed below:

Iron Supplements

Iron supplements that contain vitamin B12, folate and other nutrients to provide more iron in the body. These can be taken orally or by injection.

Hemodialysis

In some cases, hemodialysis may also be needed to remove excess iron from the body. Hemodialysis is a medical procedure that involves removing blood from one side of the body and passing it through a machine that cleanses erythrocytes so they can be used again.

Erythropoietin injections

Injections of erythropoietin, a hormone that triggers the production of new red blood cells. It is not yet known whether this treatment is effective against any condition other than anemia. It is often used in combination with other treatments, such as iron supplements and splenectomies (removal of the spleen).

Erythropoietin injections are available for patients who don’t have enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to make new ones. These injections are a form of erythropoietin that is less effective than the naturally-occurring hormone, but is still used as a treatment for anemia.

Ginger

Ginger supplements have been demonstrated to improve iron absorption, increasing the effectiveness of oral iron therapy. Additionally, it lessens inflammation and oxidative stress, protecting against too much free iron.

Turmeric

The use of turmeric supplements is getting more widespread. People who arrive with iron deficiency anemia should be asked if they use any supplements. Given that turmeric may absorb intestinal iron, it may be helpful for people with iron overload conditions like hemochromatosis or hemolytic anemias like sickle cell disease.
